ERP(Enterprise Resource Planning) is a Buzzword for the Industries Specially in Manufacturing. No need to Introduce this term. As most of Us are aware about it.But for the formality I would like to give One Line Defination " ERP is a System which Provide you quick and Accurate Report of Every aspect of Your Business".

The ERP is as old as the Industries but this term ERP comes in around 1990. Are u currently using any ERP package or Planning to have it? If you are using ERP package and satisfied with your package and its Services Provided by the Vendor then Its a Great peace of Mind for the Management.

There is a large number of organization who are not satisfied with the existing ERP System, then what to do? Should we abandoned the ERP System and switch back to Excel Spread Sheet. This is the Common question which might arise in anyone mind.  If someone is Invested and not getting the ROI upto the satisfaction level then it is the the time to ask yourself about the following question

 1. Are the end users trained Enough to work on ERP? if no then Its time to give them the Proper Training

2. How Much time your vendor takes to solve the Technical Issue? If He is taking more time to solve any Technical Issue then their might be so many reason and the exact reason you better knows

3. Have your vendor provided you the Templates to design the reports in your own way and it includes all the information you desired?

4. How much productive time you Invest with existing ERP system to trace the bugs?

Here in this Professional era Nobody will ever admit their own business is part of the problem!

Hence the Investor or the sufferer has to use his own due diligence what to do to solve daily issue. Should one change the platform if the answers of the above questions are not in the favor of the vendor? The answer might be yes or no depending on your patience/Term and condition between you and vendor and most Important is the Cost.

You have to calculate how much you are Investing in your existing ERP system. In calculation Please don't forget to include the Indirect Cost that might include the involvement of your staff Productive Hours to solve the Issues in ERP.

I am sure that if you Include the indirect cost too then it will go higher then cost of Branded and standard Package available in the Market.

To decide one should always remember Cost of ERP is an Asset, Not an Expense.
